Anna Marson, MA, RP, CCC, Chief Psychotherapist
Naturally psychologically-minded, I have always been insightful, compassionate, and drawn to helping others. Possessing a strong social consciousness, I have felt impelled to instigate positive change and promote wellness on individual and community levels. Realizing the transformative power in forming authentic connections with others, I am continuously inspired and honoured to do such meaningful work.
I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Victoria, and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from McMaster University with a Specialization in Cognition and Perception. I’m designated as a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) in good standing with The College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). I’ve completed more than 7000 hours of psychotherapy over seven years of clinical experience in the field.
I’m a Master’s level Registered Psychotherapist supervised by some of Toronto’s top psychologists, which means I’m able to offer the same quality of service, at a more economical cost. My wealth of clinical and front line experience provides me with unique expertise and practical skills not possessed by most therapists, which clients immediately recognize when working with me. As a clinician, at my core, I am client-centred, ethics-driven, and outcome oriented, making me determined to see you experience positive shifts quickly. I look forward to hearing from you and being a part of your journey.
Counselling inspired by the science of neuroplasticity
I believe that working from a client-centred, individualized approach is essential in fostering meaningful life change and growth through therapy. I view each client as an expert in their own lives and value and integrate each client’s preferences and goals in the therapy process. I practice from a mindfulness-based approach, which is a gentle practice that emphasizes the health benefits associated with cultivating deeper awareness in the present moment through grounding, relaxation training, meditative exercises, and mindfulness more generally.
I have a special interest in diversity and culturally sensitive practices and am fortunate to have gained a great deal of experience in this area both through living abroad and practicing in Toronto, the most international city in the world!
I am a trauma-informed and trauma-specialized therapist and have completed Level One Sensorimotor Psychotherapy training based on the teachings of Pat Ogden to help clients address the physical, emotional, and cognitive affects of trauma in a safe manner.
Above all, my work is inspired by neuroplasticity and the potential it holds for learning and transformation in us all. What that means practically is that I provide education about human behaviour and brain functioning to help clients make sense of their experiences, understand their origins, and see their challenges from a normalizing, compassionate view. Many clients find this information to be very helpful, hopeful, and empowering, as it gives us a roadmap for resolving their issues. Overall, I am continually inspired by the transformation and resilience I witness in clients each day, which is why I’m passionate about the work I do.
