Spring Cleaning for Your Heart & Mind

Mindfulness in the practice of learning to cultivate present-moment awareness to develop greater calmness and focus in our lives. It helps us be “in the here and now.”

Research has found that mindfulness-based therapies are effective in treating a range of concerns, such as: Depression, Anxiety, Stress, High Blood Pressure, Chronic Pain, Fibromyalgia, Sleep Irregularities, Relationship Issues, Sexual Difficulties/Impotence, Acquired Brain Injury, Anger, Addictions, Eating Disorders, Trauma, Obsessive & Compulsive Behaviours, Diabetes, Stress Factors involved in Heart Disease, & Resilience from illness on a genetic level, including cancer.

This 8-week course teaches techniques to manage difficult thoughts, feelings, emotions, stress, & pain to promote health & relaxation. 

The course is offered on Tuesdays from 6 – 8 pm, May 1 – June 19.

The course is an instructional, experiential (practice)-focused group; it is not a “talk-therapy” group and participants are not required to share personal information beyond brief introductions. No prior experience with meditation is necessary. 

This course teaches participants:

-a variety of meditation techniques

-relaxation training

-strategies to expand attention

-greater self-awareness of thought patterns and emotions

-strategies to manage difficult emotions and physical pain

-the ability to cope with challenges proactively

-the practice of compassion towards oneself and others
